Document sharing

Document sharing is available on Growth and Premium. Upload PDF, Office (DOCX, PPTX, XLSX), or images; share a stable https://litonl.com/view/{slug} link (optional short alias https://lit.onl/v/{short}).

Upload and convert

Use the Documents dashboard to drag-and-drop or pick a file. PDFs are ready to share right away. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and common images are converted automatically into a viewer-friendly PDF—usually within a minute. Per-file size limits: 50 MB on Growth, 100 MB on Premium. Total storage limits apply per workspace.

Share link and gates

Use Share on the Documents list or detail page for the view link, short alias, and gates in one place.

• Password — optional gate before the viewer loads.
• Email required — collect viewer email on unlock.
• Watermark — overlay viewer email on pages (Premium-friendly diligence).
• Link expiry — optional expires_at on the document settings JSON.
• Allow download — optional; hides the download control in the viewer when off.
• Allow print — optional; shows a print action in the viewer when on.
• Notifications — notify_on_view: off, first view only, or every visit (email + in-app bell).

Moving from DocSend

1. Upload PDF or Office files on Documents — post-upload opens Share so you can copy the link immediately.
2. Match your old gates: require email, password, watermark, expiry, and download policy in Share or Settings.
3. Replace DocSend room links with a data room (/room/{slug}); add folders and documents in the room editor.
4. Use Activity on a document for visit log and time-on-page charts (Growth+ retention window applies).
5. Re-upload new file versions on the same share link from Overview → New version.

Read analytics

The public viewer sends heartbeats for time on page and logs visits with country and device type (no raw IP in logs). The document detail page shows summary cards, a visit log, and charts. Workspace totals appear on the Documents list. Retention follows your plan’s analytics window; older visit data rolls off automatically.

Data rooms

Data rooms bundle documents for investors: create a room, add folders, place documents, and share one /room/{slug} URL. Room-level password/email gates apply to the landing page.

Public API

Viewer traffic uses /public/documents/… (meta, unlock, file, events). Dashboard CRUD uses session cookies on /internal/v1/documents and /internal/v1/data-rooms. Growth+ automation uses Bearer OAuth on /v1/documents and /v1/data-rooms (scopes documents:read / documents:write) — same behavior as the dashboard routes.
